NEW NETWORK FOR CANADIAN ARTISTS

A new social network aimed at creating a directory for the Canadian Christian Music Industry has just launched. ChristianArtists.ca is aiming at facilitating greater interaction and connections between the various arms of the Canadian Christian Music scene.

Founder, Batsirai Chada comments "It's not simply another Facebook or Myspace. Although we include social network features like profiles, photos, music, video, etc -  the membership and purpose of the site is very well defined. Facebook is like your global phonebook - great if you know who you are looking for. ChristianArtists.ca is like an industry directory.

Like a directory on steroids, it will soon be an easy way of finding the people you need. Looking for a great bassist in Alberta? Need an opening artist for your gig in the Yukon? Or a producer in Ottawa."

"Our industry is more like a community - fragmented by distance and provincial borders. We are an indie community - and as such, the more we can help each other, the better we can be. The more connected we are, the more we can work together."

There are so many places for artists to 'list' themselves online - Myspace, Facebook, PureVolume, etc... ChristianArtists.ca is not a replacement of those but because it's a defined group - the networking process is more efficient and the resulting connections more meaningful.

ChristianArtists.ca offers free membership to anyone from fans to arena concert promoters, songwriters and artists, and the invisible yet talented session artists. They can post photos, videos, send messages, live chat - everything Facebook does, but as Batsirai Chada points out - it doesn't demand the daily visit like Facebook. Just being listed in such a way that others can find you will satisfy the basic purpose of ChristianArtists.ca

As any indie artist knows knows - relationships and who you know make a big difference. For a country where the whole industry is Indie in status and culture - a strong community is even more vital. ChristianArtists.ca may just fill that need.
